Lending a Helping Hand

We here at BRM Hotels are not yearly visitors to Myrtle Beach. It’s a place we love so much that we live here.

And with living somewhere, comes a sense of community. That’s why for the 2nd year in a row, we sponsored and assisted in building a new home for an at-need family through Habitat for Humanity of Horry County.

Recently completed for the McIntyre family, the home was a labor of love for everyone on the BRM Hotels team. Now moved in, the McIntyre family will have the security, peace, and sense of pride that comes with owning a home.

We’re fond of Habitat for Humanity for several reasons, but most of all because they are vested in helping change people’s lives for the better.

Since 1991, Habitat for Humanity of Horry County has built and remodeled nearly 200 homes, locally and worldwide. They are dedicated to the elimination of sub-standard housing but do not give houses away. Volunteers provide most of the labor and individual, church, and corporate donors provide funding and materials to build Habitat houses.

Habitat partners with families and individuals selected for homeownership through a rigorous application process. Families that purchase a Habitat home must complete over 200 hours of sweat equity per adult and 25-100 hours per child based on age. All families attend home buyer education classes on a monthly basis. Habitat homes are sold to partner families and individuals at no profit and financed with no-interest mortgages. The homeowner’s monthly mortgage payments are used to build more Habitat homes within the Horry County community.

If you’re not already helping Habitat in your community, we suggest you get involved. Giving back to your community is a noble, fulfilling cause.
