One of the first items to check off your list when you’re planning your getaway is finding an oceanfront resort. All of our resorts include indoor and outdoor pools and onsite dining. If your kids love the water, you’ll be sure to make a splash at Compass Cove Oceanfront Resort. There are over 20 water amenities including two water slides, five kiddie pools, three lazy rivers, and more. Want to stay close to it all? Breakers Resort is in the heart of Myrtle Beach and within walking distance to a variety of oceanfront restaurants. It also has an indoor waterpark called the Cove with four waterslides.
Bay View Resort is located on the Boardwalk and is close to the Myrtle Beach SkyWheel. And if you’re searching for a complimentary breakfast, look no further than The Strand. Brookgreen Gardens is coming to life every Wednesday through Sunday, all summer long. From June 9th through August 21st, you can wander through the gardens, illuminated with nine light installations. Make an evening of it and enjoy dinner from a local food truck and a frozen treat from the Kona Ice Truck.
If you love music and wine, make your way to La Belle Amie Vineyards in North Myrtle Beach for their summer concert series. Relax under the cabanas on the patio and enjoy the sounds of music while you sip on sweet muscadine wine. They’re featuring a variety of themes including Summer Breeze Music Fest, Summer TropRock Fest, and Summertime Rock and Roll, to name a few.
Tucked away in Hungtington Beach State Park is the beautiful Atalaya Castle, which once served as a winter home of Archer Huntington and his wife Anna. You can take a guided tour or take an audio-led tour and meander around on your own. The castle has beautiful gardens to wander through and once you’re done exploring, you can head down to the ocean or search for wildlife along one of their hiking trails.
That’s right – penguins have made their way to the beach! Visit Ripley’s Aquarium and check out their new exhibit that includes a penguin playhouse, complete with clear tunnels to waddle through and get up close and personal with the little birds. Make sure to stop by the penguin nursery to see where they take care of the baby penguins.
Hit a home run with the family when you take everyone to a Myrtle Beach Pelican baseball game. Check the schedule as they’re always featuring various promotions like Thirsty Thursday, bobblehead giveaways, and Christmas in July. And if you go to a game on a Friday, you’ll enjoy a post-game firework show.
From searching for seashells to splashing in the waves, there’s nothing like spending a long day playing on the beach. If the kids have built their share of sandcastles and are looking for other activities, here are a few games to entertain everyone:
