With fall coming quickly — and the coastal crowds much lighter than during the peak summer season — Halloween makes for a great time to head for the beach and get into the holiday spirit. And with an array of fun Halloween-themed activities on tap for visitors of all ages (all in addition to the area’s array of exciting-anytime attractions), Myrtle Beach makes for a great All Hallows’ Eve destination of choice.
Need some festive reasons to head for the Carolina coast this Halloween? Consider the following Halloween and Halloween-weekend events and activities on the Myrtle Beach area’s events calendar this year — then grab your costume and join the fun:
Scheduled for October 28 at Myrtle Beach shopping/dining/entertainment hot spot Broadway at the Beach, the inaugural Monster Dash 5K Run/Walk and 1-mile Spooky Shuffle will get participants (and spectators) in the Halloween spirit by encouraging all to wear their favorite costumes. Prizes will be awarded to the top-ranking ensembles and the winning 5K runners, and family-friendly activities such as a live DJ and raffle prizes will round out the fun.
Get ready to see a charming collection of costumed kids and pets at North Myrtle Beach shopping/dining/entertainment complex Barefoot Landing on October 28. That’s when prizes will be awarded for the best-costumed children (in three separate age categories) and the top critter costumes, too, during the annual BooFest! celebration. And to conclude the evening’s Halloween-themed activities, family-friendly witch flick “Hocus Pocus” will be presented on the big screen at the complex’s Dockside Village Amphitheater.
At Murrells Inlet’s MarshWalk, a half-mile wooden boardwalk plays host to amazing views of the surrounding saltwater estuary — along with an impressive collection of delicious restaurants (most of which give fresh-caught seafood top billing on their menus). And during October 31’s Halloween on the MarshWalk, the restaurants will all offer food and drink specials while trick-or-treating and costume contests crank up the fun on the boardwalk.
Set for Thursday, October 26, the Haunted Halloween Party at Myrtle Beach’s Club 3001 will feature live entertainment from 2CHECKS, LAST NIGHT, N?NE and ROY. A costume contest held during the event with put $1,500 in cash prizes up for grabs, plus attendees will be treated to an amazing stage and lighting production during the Haunted Nightclub Experience.
Spanning two days (both Friday, October 27, and Saturday, October 28), the Myrtle Beach Official Halloween Bar Crawl will include admission to some of Myrtle Beach’s hottest bars, a costume contest (with $2,000 worth of prizes up for grabs), food and drink specials, live DJs, a free after-party and more.
Presented at the Hall at St. Johns in Myrtle Beach, Candelight: A Haunted Evening of Halloween Classics will see guests treated to an hour of well-known Halloween tunes played by the Listeso String Quartet — and illuminated by candlelight. Some of the songs tentatively to be heard include Michael Jackson’s Thriller, Tubular Bells (the theme from The Exorcist), the Stranger Things theme song, the Addams Family theme song and the theme song from the Halloween horror movies.
