Vacation on a Budget in Myrtle Beach

There’s a balance when planning every vacation of optimizing fun without breaking the bank. Thankfully if you choose Myrtle Beach as a destination, packing your vacation full of adventure doesn’t have to drain your wallet. Here are some budget-friendly and affordable Myrtle Beach activities to add to your itinerary:

Soak up the Sun

One place that’s free of charge year-round is the beach! There are 60 miles of pristine shoreline where you can soak up the sunshine, search for seashells, splash in the ocean, and catch up on your favorite beach read.

Putt for a Hole-in-One

Whether you’re a novice or a putt-putt pro, there are plenty of family-friendly miniature golf courses along the Grand Strand to test your skills. Your family can put their way through volcanoes, dodge waterfalls, avoid prehistoric dinosaurs, get lost in a jungle, and walk the plank on a pirate ship. You can even play rooftops of the Grande Cayman Resort! With over 50 mini-golf courses, it’s no wonder Myrtle Beach proudly calls itself the “Miniature Golf Capital of the World.” The cheapest time to play a round or two is during the daytime.

Shop ‘til you Drop

If searching for souvenirs and bargains is one of your favorite vacation activities, then the shopping scene in Myrtle Beach won’t disappoint. There are plenty of outdoor shopping centers to check out including Broadway at the Beach, The Market Common, Barefoot Landing, and Tanger Outlets. Each has its share of unique shops, delicious dining, and entertainment. But beware, this activity can add up quickly depending on how many treasures you find!

Sip the Day Away

Duplin Winery is a spot by Barefoot Landing that’s home to muscadine wine crafted right here in the Carolinas. They offer a wine tasting where for $10, you can sample a variety of wines while you snack on gourmet cheese and homemade crackers. The price even includes a glass of wine to sip after the tasting. Browse through their shop for a souvenir bottle before grabbing a rocking chair on the front porch to relax, listen to live music, and unwind.

Reel in the Fun

Who says you have to rent a boat to go fishing? A more budget-friendly way to fish in Myrtle Beach is right off the pier or from the shore. Piers are known to attract fish so if you choose that route, you can check out the Second Avenue Pier or the pier at Myrtle Beach State Park. Depending on what’s in season, you’ll have the opportunity to try to reel in flounder, mackerel, drum, bluefish, and more. Hopefully, you’ll go home with some great photos, stories, and even a few keepers!

Put the Pedal to the Metal

Fulfill your need for speed as you race around Broadway Grand Prix. It doesn’t matter how skilled of a driver you are, there are seven unique go-kart tracks to entertain everyone in the group. And the friendly competition doesn’t stop on the track. The park offers miniature golf, rock climbing, bumper cars, and an arcade packed full of games. If you’re interested in racing for more than a day, check out the unlimited access available in their weekly passes.

Get lost in a Castle by the Sea

Built by Archer Huntington and his wife Anna, Atalaya Castle is a historic landmark located in Huntington Beach State Park. Beautifully designed to be a winter residence for the couple, the castle has thirty rooms, which are laid out on three sides of the courtyard. Take a guided tour for only $4 and learn about the castle’s rich history or choose to simply wander the beautiful grounds on your own. Admission is $2 for adults and kids 5 and under are free.

Golf in any Weather

Practice your golf swing anytime, rain or shine, at Topgolf Myrtle Beach! Topgolf features a variety of games that use a microchipped ball to keep track of the distance and accuracy of each of your shots. Designed for all skill levels, you and your group can enjoy competing for points as everyone aims for the colored targets. Each bay holds 6 people and you can rent one from $4.50 to under $8 per person (rates based on 6 people), depending on the time of day you play. Plus every Tuesday, all games are half-priced, with no coupon required. This is not your average driving range!
