Myrtle Beach Boardwalk During The Day

Top 10 Things To Do On The Myrtle Beach Boardwalk

One of the iconic sights in Myrtle Beach is the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk & Promenade. This 1.2-mile wooden boardwalk lies oceanfront and runs from Pier 14 on 14th Avenue North to 2nd Avenue Pier on 2nd Avenue North. Boardwalks are nostalgic and scenic places that have been in everything from photographs to songs written about them. And the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk is nothing short of splendid. Built in 2010, there are plenty of places to shop, dine, eat, and be entertained. Here’s a list of other things to see and do on the boardwalk while on your vacation with Brittain Resorts & Hotels:

  1. Grab a hot dog
If there’s one thing there’s plenty of along the boardwalk is restaurants. From hole-in-the-wall diners to three-story eateries, there are quite a few options of places to dine – indoors or outdoors – along the oceanfront. Grab a hot dog at the infamous Peach’s Corner, a family-owned and operated Myrtle Beach landmark since 1937. Dine on fresh seafood while you watch people fish at Pier 14 or Pier House Restaurant at 2nd Ave N. Or grab a slice of pizza at N.Y. Style Pizza or a fish taco at LandShark Restaurant.
  2. Jam Out to Live Music
It’s tough to beat live music along the boardwalk. There are several venues and restaurants that feature live music from local musicians. The Bowery, open 75+ years, is an iconic place along the boardwalk. This is the spot that features the hit show The Bounty Hunters nightly and was home to the infamous country group – Alabama. 8th Ave Tiki Bar features live music every Thursday night and RipTydz, a multi-level restaurant offers live music. One avenue down from the boardwalk is TinRoof, a rooftop bar that features nightly live music. During the summer, the Hot Summer Night concert series takes over Plyler Park, and every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday they have local bands perform. And once a year during a four-day stretch at the beginning of June, you can catch a whole lineup of chart-topping country artists at the Carolina Country Music Fest.
  3. Watch Fireworks
Every Wednesday at 10 pm during the summer, a spectacular firework show lights up the night sky by the Myrtle Beach SkyWheel as part of the Hot Summer Nights in Plyler Park. Also on Wednesdays at 10 pm just a few avenues down, 2nd Ave Pier shoots off a grande firework display.
  4. Soar to New Heights
Take flight on the Myrtle Beach SkyWheel, another iconic landmark, along the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk. Simply step inside a climate-controlled glass gondola and soar into the sky as you take in breathtaking views of the Myrtle Beach coastline. If you’re feeling a little more adventurous, try the Myrtle Beach Zipline Adventures where you’ll plunge 65 feet off the Free Fall Express, all while taking in the view of the ocean. Feeling even more daring? Hop on the Sling Shot, which propels you up to 300 feet in the air at speeds of up to 100 mph! That’s one way to soar to new heights!
  5. See a Six-Legged Cow
That’s right – along with a six-legged cow and a shrunken head – you’ll see all sorts of oddities at Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Other Ripley’s Attractions found on the boulevard across from the boardwalk include Ripley’s Haunted Adventure, Ripley’s Moving Theatre, and Ripley’s Mirror Maze.
  6. Get a Sugar Rush
What’s a boardwalk stroll without a classic ice cream melting down your hand? Race the heat with a sweet treat from Mad Myrtle’s Ice Creamery, a frozen daiquiri at Hurricane’s Daiquiri Bar & Grill, or a classic cone from Peaches Corner. Across the street from the SkyWheel is I Love Sugar – which has floor-to-ceiling candy and one of the largest candy walls in America. Other places to find a sugar fix with a large fish bowl-size cocktail include Moe Moon’s and RipTydz!
  7. Discover a Shark’s Tooth
That iconic lighthouse along the boulevard is the Gay Dolphin Gift Cove, one of the most unique gift shops along the Grand Strand. Open since 1946, the Gay Dolphin has seven levels of shopping. Selling everything from sea shells and shark teeth to apparel, jewelry, and home decor – there are even opportunities for photos with a lifesize Yeti, Elvis, and Egyptian guardians! As they say, it’s more than a gift shop – it’s a shopping experience.
  8. Wake up to the sound of the Ocean
When you book your stay at Bay View Resort on the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk, you can enjoy your vacation in an oceanfront suite! Imagine going to sleep and waking up to the sound of the ocean. Start each morning with your favorite cup of coffee at the onsite Starbucks before heading out for a stroll along the Boardwalk. You merely step away from all the action!
  9. Win a Prize
Time for some friendly family competition at the Fun Plaza Family Fun Plaza! Nothing says boardwalk like the dings and pings of an arcade. Test your skills and try to rack up tickets as you compete in skeeball, play air hockey, shoot hoops, race motorcycles and try your hand at pinball. Collect tickets and cash them in for some nostalgic prizes like Chinese handcuffs, slinkies, candy, and poppers!
  10. Go for a Stroll
Although the promenade holds lots of excitement and activities, it’s also a beautiful wooden structure to meander along and simply take a stroll. It makes for a nice 1.2-mile trek with a nice view of the ocean. During the offseason, it’s also a great place to go for a jog or ride a bike!
