There’s one sure thing about Myrtle Beach. There’s always something to do. It doesn’t matter if it’s the middle of summer or the dead of winter, you’ll never be bored.
Here’s a look at what you can do if you’re visiting in April.
- April 4 – 13, S.O.S. – If you’re a dancer, especially of the shagging variety, you’ll want to check the S.O.S. Spring Safari in North Myrtle Beach. This yearly event attracts shaggers from throughout the Southeast and the world. Events are held in and around the Main Street area, including at clubs such as Fat Harold’s, Ducks, and The Pad, with DJs spinning new and classic beach music tunes. Even if you’re not that into dancing, you can check out the parades, non-stop live entertainment, and FREE FOOD that’s part of this week-long event.
- April 13, Monday After The Masters – If you lived through the 90s, you surely remember Hootie and The Blowfish. The college band turned pop phenomenon from the Summer of ’94 isn’t making new music together anymore, but they do continue something they started more than 20 years ago; the Monday After the Masters celebrity pro-am golf event. Originating again this year from the Barefoot Resort in North Myrtle Beach proceeds from the event go to children’s educational programs and the South Carolina junior golf program. Some of this year’s attendees include Larry the Cable Guy; Jim McMahon; Michael Waltrip; Jim Furyk; and Chris DiMarco.
- April 22-25, Myrtle Beach International Film Festival – Celebrating its 10th anniversary, this year’s Myrtle Beach International Film Festival (MBIFF) will at be held at Carmike Cinema 17 Broadway at the Beach. Films and filmmakers from around the world will showcase their work again this year, including numerous world premieres. Named one of the “Top 25 Festivals Worth Submission Fees” by MovieMaker Magazine, the MBIFF has quickly become one of the must-attend events for independent filmmakers. Films featured this year include Taxi Stop and Is This The Real World.
- April 30 – May 2, Cruise the Coast – Mustangs, Camaros, Chargers, and possibly some non-traditional classic cars will be hitting the Myrtle Beach area for this annual event. While more than 100 cars are registered for the event, and many more are on display, car enthusiasts from around the Southeast come to the Grand Strand to check out the different makes and models.
