On your mark, get set, and go! It’s time to lace up your running shoes and race to Myrtle Beach on March 7th, 2020 for the 23rd Annual Myrtle Beach Marathon. No matter what your running level, there’s a race for you. If you’re not quite up to 26.2 miles, there’s also the half marathon, 5k, and 1 Mile Family Fun Run.
The big race weekend kicks off on Friday night with a Health & Wellness Expo at Dave & Buster’s at Broadway at the Beach. Racers will be able to pick up their race packets, shop for gear and enjoy a free Power Card for unlimited video games and dig in with discounts on food and non-alcoholic drinks.
The race course is the fastest and flattest in South Carolina. It’ll take you and fellow racers winding through the Grand Strand, down Ocean Boulevard past the Myrtle Beach SkyWheel, and along a beautiful stretch that features unobstructed views of the sparkling Atlantic Ocean. Once you cross the finish line at the Myrtle Beach Pelicans baseball stadium, you’ll receive a race medal and the party will begin. The Finish Line Festival will be the place to celebrate with ice-cold beers, food, and live music with Liquid Pleasure.
One of the best parts about traveling to Myrtle Beach for the Myrtle Beach Marathon is having the option to turn your race day into a weekend getaway. When it comes to planning your stay, there are a few oceanfront hotels just blocks away from all the action. Choose from The Bay View Resort, The Breakers Resort, The Strand, or many more. Bay View and The Breakers Resort both have Starbucks where you can get a jump start to your day, and when you stay at The Strand or Dayton House you’ll get a hot complimentary breakfast to fuel up before the big race. All the resorts have oceanfront pools, comfortable rooms for any size group, and are in close proximity to tons of dining and entertainment.
After a day full of running, head to the Mist Spa at The Caribbean Resort and ease those muscles with a relaxing massage. We know all that exercise is sure to build up an appetite, so make plans to dine with craft cocktails at Strong Waters Bar across from The Breakers Resort. Afterward, head to Tin Roof for some live music on their oceanfront rooftop. The next day there are plenty of opportunities to find a few souvenirs at The Market Common, Broadway at the Beach, and Barefoot Landing. Or make a tee time for a round of golf or hit some balls at Topgolf Myrtle Beach. Not up for activities? You can always soak up the sun by the ocean or pool.
