There’s something undeniably magical about Myrtle Beach during the holidays. As the ocean breeze cools and the sun dips earlier into the horizon, the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk transforms into a dazzling coastal celebration filled with lights, music, and holiday cheer. This year, the beloved Winter Wonderland at The Beach returns for its fifth season. It’s bigger, brighter, and more enchanting than ever.
From November 28 through January 4, 2026, the Boardwalk will be illuminated nightly with complimentary light displays stretching from Plyler Park to the Second Avenue Pier. Produced by the City of Myrtle Beach in partnership with the Myrtle Beach Downtown Alliance, the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce, and Visit Myrtle Beach, this free month-long event blends seaside charm with the festive spirit of the holidays.
A Mile of Magic: What to Expect
Each evening from 5 to 9 p.m., families can stroll the mile-long light trail, where twinkling displays transform the oceanfront walkway into a festive wonderland. The lights dance along the beachfront, offering countless picture-perfect moments and a joyful atmosphere perfect for all ages.
But Winter Wonderland at The Beach is more than just lights! It’s a full season of community celebration. Here are the must-see events:
Tree Lighting & First Snow – Nov. 29
Kick off the season at Plyler Park on Small Business Saturday. From 4 to 7 p.m., enjoy a free holiday concert, local shopping, and the annual tree lighting at 6:15 p.m. Plus, you’ll get to experience a playful dusting of simulated snow, which is a rare treat at the beach!
Twinkling Two-Miler Run – Dec. 9
Get festive AND a little sparkly during this family-friendly night run. Starting at 6 p.m. at Plyler Park, participants are encouraged to wear costumes, lights, or anything that glows. Registration is $30 for this scenic two-mile run along the illuminated Boardwalk.
F1rst Friday Art Walks – Dec. 5 & Jan. 2
Explore the Arts + Innovation District during these special holiday editions of the monthly art walk. From 5 to 8 p.m., browse handmade gifts, meet local creators, and enjoy live music. It’s perfect for finding one-of-a-kind holiday treasures.
Light Up The Night Slow Roll Bike Ride – Dec. 11
Adorn your bicycle with holiday lights and pedal your way through Winter Wonderland. This free community bike ride starts at Grand Strand Brewing Co. and begins rolling at 6 p.m. It’s festive, family-friendly, and a fun way to experience the lights on two wheels.
New Year’s Eve Fireworks – Dec. 31
Say goodbye to 2025 with a spectacular fireworks show at 9 p.m. Launching from the Second Avenue Pier, these dazzling displays over the ocean make for an unforgettable New Year’s Eve moment.
